Sustainability at WCA2026

WCA2026 is committed to hosting a sustainable and environmentally conscious congress. Our aim is to minimise the environmental impact of the event while delivering a high-quality experience for all participants. To achieve this, we have implemented a range of initiatives that prioritise sustainability, equity, and ethical practices.

Key measures include:

Paperless Congress: WCA2026 will be paperless. All materials, including programme information, abstracts, and handouts, will be available digitally. QR codes will be prominently displayed on banners, booth backdrops, and printed one-pagers featuring local speakers to facilitate easy access to digital resources.

Waste Reduction: We are actively pursuing a near-zero waste policy by reducing reliance on physical materials and avoiding single-use items where possible. Digital alternatives are being prioritised to eliminate unnecessary printing and distribution.

Water Stations: Delegates are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles as water fountains will be available throughout the venue.

Environmentally Friendly Food Practices: Food orders are being carefully planned to avoid over-catering and minimise waste.

Sustainable Carpeting: The exhibition area will be free of carpeting, and the carpets used in session rooms will be recycled from previous events.

Travel Minimisation: Venues and accommodations have been chosen for their central locations and proximity to public transport, minimising the need for extensive travel during the congress.

Diversity and Inclusion: WCA2026 embraces diversity and inclusivity in all its forms. We aim to create an equitable environment that supports participation by delegates from all backgrounds, considering gender, cultural, religious, physical, and social factors.

We are proud to align our efforts with the global movement toward sustainability, ensuring WCA2026 leaves a positive impact on both its attendees and the environment.
